Sister Rae Eckton – From the Mission Field #2

September 10, 2018

Sister Rae Eckton was a previous guest on the Latter-day Saint MissionCast. You can listen to her episode by clicking here. She will be sending out updates on her mission experience in Edmonton, Canada, and we will be reposting her letters on our blog on a regular basis.

Hello everyone!

Missionaries in Edmonton Canada
I hope you all had the best week and had a good first day of school. ?

This last week was a little crazy! We had zone conference on Thursday and it was SO good. The topic was on faith and everyone gave such good trainings. We had P Day last Friday so everyone stayed in Grande Prairie to play zone sports. It was a good time.

Over the weekend there was a music fest going on at the local Park, so Sister Mills and I got to meet a lot of awesome people there. One of them being Rohan and his son Dejal! They’re from Sri Lanka and English isn’t their first language, so we told him about the English class we’re starting next week and he was in. We told him he should come to church and gave him our card with the address on it. He came to church with his son and wife Yamuna. They loved it and said they are going to start coming regularly and arrange their work schedules so they don’t work on Sundays.

Chuan & her husband Dean and James & his daughter Kelsey came to church as well! It was so awesome to see them all at church, but scary when I saw them all from the pulpit. I gave a talk on restoration with a focus on prophets. I think it went well… ?

Other than that everything has been going really well! Sister Mills and I are going to figure out more of Grande Prairie, so I’ll talk to you all next week. Have the BEST week, I love you all!

“Isn’t it wonderful to know that we don’t have to be perfect to experience the blessings and gifts of our Heavenly Father? We don’t have to wait to cross the finish line to receive God’s blessings. In fact, the heavens begin to part and the blessings of heaven begin to distill upon us with the very first steps we take toward the light.” -Dieter F. Uchtdorf
