Sister Rae Eckton – Letters from the field #3

September 13, 2018

Sister Rae Eckton was a previous guest on the Latter-day Saint MissionCast. You can listen to her episode by clicking here. She will be sending out updates on her mission experience in Edmonton, Canada, and we will be reposting her letters on our blog on a regular basis.

Hello, friends and family!

I hope you all had the best week.

This week Sister Mills and I did A LOT of finding. We found Mike, he opened the door laughing at us saying, “Are you for real?” He kept laughing and then we talked to him about how we can find peace through Jesus Christ, and it’s like the Spirit hit him with a ton of bricks. He invited us to come over later this week. It was so cool to see how quickly his demeanor changed towards us.

FUNNIEST STORY: We were walking into the church and this random guy stopped us in the parking lot to talk to us. He starts the conversation with, “You look nice today!” We said thank you, then he looks me straight in the eyes and says, “YOU look nice today!” We invited him to church but he said he was pretty busy. We gave him a card and thought that was it, but then he asks me, “Your boyfriend shorter than me?” I said, “No, I don’t have a boyfriend.” So he walks over puts his hand on my shoulder and says, “I want you. I want be your boyfriend.” I said, “Maybe after my mission…talk to you later!” And we went away and laughed for quite some time.
Transfers are happening tomorrow so Sister Mills and I have to drive to Edmonton today. So we don’t have a ton of time to email today…. But here’s my spiritual thought for the week! I was reading in the October, 2001, issue of the Liahona, and Elder Holland said, “The fact of the matter is investigators are not only hearing our testimony of Christ, but they are hearing echoes of other, earlier testimonies, including their own testimony of Him, for they were on the side of the faithful who kept their first estate and earned the privilege of a second estate. We must always remember that these investigators were among the valiant who once overcame Satan by the power of their testimony of Christ!”
I love you all and hope you have the best week!
